THIS YEAR, THE PHILLY FARM AND FOOD FEST is moving to harvest season. The local food extravaganza will take place October 28. This time, it will be an outdoor event, sprawling across eight acres in the Navy Yard. “We want to make it feel like one epic farmers’ market,” says Lisa O’Neill of Growing Roots Partners, who’s helping Fair Food organize the event this year. Plan to shop; about 200 exhibitors will set up to sell. There will be plenty of programming, too. Take a shopping break and head to the beer garden, pet the alpacas, visit the pumpkin patch or go for a hayride. This year’s Fest will be three times bigger than last year’s set-up in the Convention Center. Organizers are putting together an app for the event. You’ll be able to scope out the vendors and activities ahead of time to plan your day. Check out phillyfarmfest.org for details.
