Joncarl Lachman and his partner, Bob Moysan, live upstairs from Noord, their welcoming Northern European–inspired BYOB just off East Passyunk Avenue. That’s one reason why eating at the restaurant feels a bit like you’ve been invited to their home for dinner. The couples’ warmth is as appealing as Lachman’s hearty, comforting food (like open-faced sandwiches of house smoked fish and vinegar-braised rabbit atop smoked sausage and sauerkraut). It’s a combination Lachman believes has kept the restaurant busy. “People come back not because of the food or service,” he says, “But because of how the restaurant makes you feel.”
