Fall / Holiday 2023 Issue
FOOD & COMMUNITY IN PHILADELPHIA AND BEYOND
NEW BEGINNINGS
I am so excited to welcome you to my first issue as the new publisher of Edible Philly! I am incredibly humbled and proud to continue what Nancy and Ray Painter have built over the past ten years.
In case you missed it, Edible Lehigh Valley recently launched their inaugural issue! Patrick Duffy is the new Publisher, longtime Philly contributor Carrie Havranek serves as Editor, and they will be covering the Lehigh Valley, Poconos and Lancaster regions. I encourage you to subscribe and follow their coverage at ediblelehighvalley.com. Edible Philly will shift slightly to focus on Philadelphia, Bucks, Chester, Delaware and Montgomery counties.
In this issue, we welcome back our longtime previous Editor, Joy Manning who takes a look back at the past 10 years of Edible Philly and shares some of her favorite memories (page 15). She also takes a look forward at what’s yet to come, and we’re excited to hopefully see more of Joy in 2024. ;)
For those still lamenting the loss of Primal Supply Meats earlier this year, Mara Steinitz rounds up plenty of options for local and sustainable meat in the region - from butcher shops to markets on page 23. Colleen Kropp shares diverse holiday traditions from several notable Philadelphia chefs (page 31) and you can try your hand at several of their recipes this holiday season. And of course, our annual Holiday Food & Gift Guide is back again this year so you can find the perfect gift for your loved ones - whether it’s a themed basket, gift card or a spot to shop for holiday essentials, we’ve got you covered.
Thank you. Thank you for being a reader, contributor and supporter of our work. Edible Philly is such a special publication and I’m so, so happy to be on this journey with you.
Cheers to the next 10 years!
