Poppy's Greengrocer in New Hope, PA

We think Poppy’s Greengrocer, which opened in New Hope earlier this year, is the market of the future. First of all, it’s aiming to be a zero-waste business; you can carry your bulk items home in glass jars for a $1 deposit. The “snack bar” is next-level, with a menu of wood-fired pizza and hearty salads, plus nitro coffee and kombucha on tap. And not only does Poppy’s prioritize local products in the produce, meat, dairy and even pantry departments, the unusual business model ensures farmers share the profits— farm partners can build ownership in the store through sales over time. Much of the produce you’ll find at Poppy’s this fall was grown just 20 miles away at Blooming Glen Farm in Bucks County, the store’s first farm partner.
