This fall saw the release of books by two of Philly’s top chefs. In his first cookbook, Laurel: Modern American Flavors in Philadelphia, Nick Elmi shares the secrets behind his flagship East Passyunk restaurant. You’ll find recipes for the Top Chef winner’s bourbon-glazed grilled lobster, apple-yuzu consommé and marigold-compressed kohlrabi. Elmi partnered with food writer Adam Erace to create the book. Erace also co-authored chef Joey Baldino’s Dinner at the Club: 100 Years of Stories and Recipes from South Philly’s Palizzi Social Club. In it, he spills some of the secrets of the century-old Italian club, along with recipes, including one for his fan favorite spaghetti and crabs.

Both books are $35 and available wherever books are sold.
