Philadelphia's Love Park Welcome Center is Looking for a Unique Food and Dining Experience
AN APPETIZING DEVELOPMENT recently occurred in the ongoing restoration of Love Park on Arch Street. Philadelphia Parks & Recreation released a request for proposals (RFP) for restaurateurs interested in creating a unique food and dining experience in the beloved “Flying Saucer” Welcome Center. The 5,500-square-foot structure was renovated for food and beverage services for up to 185 diners spanning three levels. The City envisions a combination of sit-down and quick-service fare with a diverse menu that includes vegetarian and vegan options as well as alcoholic beverages.
Beyond the food and beverage offerings, the City is looking for a restaurant that can contribute to the overall vibrancy of Love Park. The Welcome Center’s restoration incorporates a deck plus an extensive wrap-around patio, offering opportunities for an extended outdoor season. The RFP encourages proposals that feature outdoor seating, live music, and other programming to create a welcoming atmosphere for park visitors.
Proposals are due May 12. The City expects to announce the selected tenant later this summer.
