Kids Summer Baking 101 Day Camp

Welcome to Baking 101, where young chefs aged 8-17 will embark on an exciting culinary journey to master the art of baking! This immersive and hands-on cooking camp is designed to inspire creativity, develop fundamental kitchen skills, and cultivate a love for baking in participants. Led by experienced instructors, each session will be filled with fun, laughter, and delicious treats as our budding bakers explore various baking techniques and recipes.

Duration: One week (2.5 hours per day, 4 days)

Daily Curriculum:

Day 1: Introduction to Baking Basics

  • Welcome and ice-breaking activities
  • Kitchen safety guidelines and hygiene practices
  • Introduction to essential baking tools and equipment
  • Hands-on practice: Preparing basic doughs (such as cookie dough or pizza dough)
  • Baking activity: Making classic chocolate chip cookies

Day 2: Exploring Bread Making

  • Recap of previous day’s learnings
  • Understanding yeast and its role in bread making
  • Techniques for kneading and shaping dough
  • Baking activity: Crafting soft and fluffy dinner rolls or breadsticks
  • Creative expression: Decorating baked goods with herbs or seeds

Day 3: The Art of Cake Decorating

  • Review of key baking concepts
  • Introduction to cake decorating tools and materials
  • Tips for achieving smooth frosting and even layers
  • Baking activity: Decorating cupcakes with various frosting techniques (e.g., piping, spreading, and swirling)
  • Theme-based decorating challenge: Participants decorate cupcakes based on a chosen theme

Day 4: Sweet and Savory Pastries

  • Recap of previous day’s achievements
  • Exploring different types of pastries (e.g., puff pastry, shortcrust pastry)
  • Techniques for rolling and shaping pastry dough
  • Baking activity: Creating both sweet (e.g., fruit turnovers) and savory (e.g., cheese twists) pastries
  • Celebration and sharing: Participants present their favorite baked goods from the week
