LONGTIME LOCAL FAVORITE PHILLY BREAD RECENTLY CHANGED ITS NAME.

The bakery is now called Merzbacher’s, after founder Pete Merzbacher. But don’t worry—you can still get the bakery’s most sought-after product, Philly Muffins. Those square English muffins have been winning fans since the beginning. The new name does signal other changes. Once primarily a supplier to restaurants, Merzbacher’s breads are now more widely available in grocery stores, including Riverwards Produce. Plus, you can even order your Philly Muffins and French Toast Loaf for home delivery or pre-order for pickup at the Germantown bakery. Want to try your hand at making your own sourdough bread from scratch? Pick up Merzbacher’s home baking starter kit, which includes all the ingredients you’ll need to bake up a pair of your very own fresh loaves.
