bagels and brunch fixings

That dream got a little more achievable for Center City and South Philly dwellers when Lauren Biederman opened her “appetizing shop” in the Italian Market. Biederman’s Specialty Foods sells traditional Jewish foods, including smoked fish, pickles and bagels. Before the shop even opened, Biederman’s weekend-only brunch boards were selling out regularly—they come with smoked salmon, bagels, cream cheese, vegetables and danish ($65 for a small board, $95 for a large). Biederman is stocking her shop with products from near and far, including fished smoked by Community’s Michael Sultan, whitefish from the Great Lakes, Alaskan sable, pastrami-smoked salmon from New York, house whipped cream cheese, and Kosher bagels, challah and rye bread from Kaplan’s New Model Bakery in Northern Liberties.
