There is a time and a place for pumpkin spice and apple cider, but here are some local, seasonal favorites for fall that we’re excited to roast, sip, and toast well into the winter months. We encourage you to follow these businesses on social media for new product launches and updates.

BABA'S BUCHA ROSY APPLE

@babasbucha
Phoenixville

Baba’s Bucha is handcrafted in small batches using only Fair Trade organic ingredients and local seasonal produce. It is vegan, raw, and gluten free. Our favorite fall offering is Rosy Apple—made with apples from Frecon Farms in Boyerstown, PA, and brewed with organic rosemary and a dash of hibiscus. It’s light, fresh, and not too sweet.

CHAR AND STAVE EVERYDAY ROAST

@charandstavecoffee
Ardmore

The founders of Bluebird Distilling launched their coffee shop and roastery in Ardmore this past March, and their Everyday Roast, literally, is an everyday choice. A whole-bean medium roast with notes of chocolate and candied fruit, it is roasted fresh at the distillery and is perfect for drip, pour overs, and espresso.

NESHAMINY CREEK JAWN OF THE DEAD

@neshaminycreekbrewingco
Croydon

JAWN of the Dead, a new Red Rye IPA, is a resinous revival brimming with Apollo, Ekuanot, Mosaic, and Nugget hops. With 20% rye malt, this beer’s undead body is bready and toasty with a spicy bite that accentuates a pronounced bitterness. Ten percent of the proceeds from the brew will go to the George A. Romero Foundation, supporting a new generation of filmmakers and artists inspired by Romero (“The Godfather of Horror”). The only thing we’re afraid of is not getting a six pack before they sell out!

DEER CREEK MALTHOUSE ORIGINAL BARLEY TEA

@barleyteatime
Glen Mills

Deer Creek Malthouse (@deercreekmalt), purveyors of authentic Pennsylvania craft malt, not only supply several producers in the region, but they have their own unique food and beverage products. Their newest innovation—Barley Tea—is zero proof, zero caffeine, and made with locally grown craft-malted grains. Barley Tea is available in four styles, but our personal favorite is the Original, which is delicately flavored with honey and lemon. The roasted barley tea is inspired by traditional Korean Boricha and Japanese Mugicha but borrows natural sweetness and nutty flavor from craft-malted grains.

FELL TO EARTH SWEET VERMOUTH

@fell.2.earth
Philadelphia

Philadelphia’s first vermouthery, from Bloomsday Café’s Zach Morris and Tim Kweeder, presents its newest release of sweet vermouth, comprised mostly of Pennsylvania ingredients, including red wine from Vox Vineti and ingredients such as black raspberries, wormwood, and fig leaf from Green Meadow Farm. You can choose your own libation adventure: With sweet, darker fruit notes, this unique aperitif can be enjoyed on its own on the rocks, in a vermouth and tonic, or added to a classic cocktail such as a Negroni or Manhattan. Until the vermouthery’s production space is complete next year, the spirit can be purchased at Bloomsday Café. Limited amounts will also be available at the 320 Market in Swarthmore and local breweries like Human Robot.

It doesn’t matter if it’s not spring break or summer vacation, escape with Bluebird Distilling’s Four Grain Bourbon finished in Jamaican rum barrels. It’s a bourbon vacation! This exotic bourbon starts with rich notes of caramel, toffee, and tobacco, finishing with a solid punch of bananas, cloves, and dried fruit. If you need us, we’ll be closing our eyes and wishing we were drinking this in a hammock.

HONEYSUCKLE PROVISIONS COWPEACoffee

@honeysuckle_projects
West Philadelphia

Omar and Cybille St.Aude-Tate of Honeysuckle Projects will open an Afrocenter café in October, Honeysuckle Provisions, that will feature COWPEAcoffee cold brew inspired by George Washington Carver. It is coffee made from the beans: Two parts cowpea and one part coffee from Kenya, the beans make the coffee super nutrient-dense and less of an intense caffeine hit than traditional cold brew. Even though it will be colder outside, we will still drink this all year round.
