Kelly Vass

Happiness Hero (Customer Service Specialist) at Buffer.com

As a graduate student in English, Kelly Vass was preparing for her future as a social media guru with Buffer.com, a tool for businesses and individual to organize their social media world. That training, though, was happening more outside the classroom than in it.

Stressed out by university demands, she took to her mixing bowls, chocolate chips, butter and flour to pass the hours she couldn’t sleep. She became an obsessive nocturnal baker—and a blogger, founding her site KellyBakes.com. It was through her blog she became an expert in using Twitter, Facebook, and other social media apps.

For blogging inspiration, she turned to Baked: New Frontiers in Baking by Matt Lewis and Renato Poliafi to (Stewart, Tabori and Chang, 2008), a cookbook she still uses regularly. This recipe for Blackberry Breakfast Bars is a favorite. “The brownie recipe is killer, too,” says Vass.
