“CHEEKY, INFORMATIVE AND MILDLY ENTERTAINING.” That’s how Rachel Klein describes her vegan cooking show Beat Your Meat. Together with Rodger Holst, Miss Rachel’s Pantry sous chef and co-owner, Klein created the show in late 2020 to counter pandemic malaise and reignite her culinary spark. Geared toward the advanced home cook, each monthly episode focuses on one dish with multiple recipes broken down into manageable steps. For example, in the Pappardelle Bolognese class, viewers learn how to make pasta, mushroom Bolognese and ricotta from scratch. There are three membership levels for Klein’s cooking show, with the lowest tier getting recipes only. For $15 a month, top-tier patrons receive recipes, a short “tips and tricks” video (like how to make a vegan coffee creamer), plus a special email account for asking Klein their most pressing vegan cooking questions.
