LIKE TWICE-DAILY FLOSSING and regular workouts, packing lunch for work everyday is a healthy habit that doesn’t always stick. Enter Simply Good Jars, a service that brings three lunch entrées to your Center City workplace once a week. As the company’s name suggests, your food will arrive in jars. Give it a vigorous shake to mix up the ingredients and dig in. The dishes—zesty, hearty salads—are meant to be enjoyed cold, perfect for the city’s sweltering summer afternoons.

Founded by chef Jared Cannon, Simply Good Jars’ mission goes beyond providing office workers healthy breakfasts and lunches made from local ingredients. The subscription model (starting at $26 per week for three meals) helps avoid food waste, while the jars cut down on packaging. They are recyclable, but returning them to Simply Good Jars is an even better bet. When you do so, jars will be reused and a free meal will be donated to someone living with food insecurity in our community.
