One of the city’s most eclectic markets pops up in Mount Airy on select Saturdays this summer. The Jabali Farmers Market is organized and hosted by Black and Planted, a project that teaches the community to sow, grow, eat, and create from the garden, according to its creator Erika Johnson.
Jabali is home to one of the city’s few pay-what-you-can produce markets. You’ll find 20 vendors plus live entertainment, including music and poetry. “Some of our favorite businesses at the market are Growin’ Up Torres [plants], Revolutionary Ratchet [wellness], Naturally Juiced [juices and fruits],” says Johnson. Her Black and Planted table sells herbs, culinary products, garden supplies, seeds, and more.
