After 11 years of planning, the Kensington Community Food Co-op is finally open for business. The new market boasts a bulk section, plenty of local produce, meats, and dairy. At the 32-seat café and bar you can grab coffee and work, meet a friend for lunch, and enjoy a beer (or booch) from the eight taps serving up rotating local brews. There’s an outdoor patio, too—a nice spot to enjoy a cold drink on a sticky summer night. If you’re a neighbor of the co-op, sign up to be a member. Not only do you get access to discounts at more than 50 partnering local businesses, you also get to make an investment in your community, says co-op manager Mike Richards. “Your money stays here and gets cycled back.”
