I used to make this drink for my seven college housemates on late winter nights. Back then I used Fireball (which tastes like Red Hots dissolved in cheap whiskey, if you're not familiar), but now I achieve a much more satisfying warming effect with cinnamon-orange tea. You can get a great loose-leaf blend called Noel at the Tea House on 4th street; Hamey & Sons Cinnamon Orange Sunset works well too.

Ingredients

  • ½ tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1.5 ounces whiskey
  • 1 cup cinnamon-orange tea
  • 1 lemon wedge for garnish

Preparation

Brew a large pot of t ea. Add the honey, whiskey and lemon to the bottom of each mug. Pour in the tea and stir to dissolve honey. Gamish with a lemon wedge and serve. To make for a crowd, simply prep the ingredients in mugs while the tea steeps.
