Join Philadelphia gay historian Bob Skiba and chef Stephanie Thaw to learn more about Thaw’s Philadelphia Stories: A Dining Out For Life Cookbook (1993) and sample featured recipes. This program interweaves cooking with the story of the Philadelphia restaurant renaissance of the 1970s and 1980s and the deeply personal narratives of the gay men who were part of that renaissance and were later lost to AIDS. Free Library staff will also present more information about the Free Library's Barbara Gittings GLBTQ Collection, the largest GLBTQ public library collection east of San Francisco, featuring a circulating selection of popular queer movies, mysteries, romances, science fiction, fantasy, and general fiction books, with many nonfiction choices as well.
